Message |

| |
The Oxford School, established in 1988, offers an education to children from the
International Community in Dubai from Kindergarten through to Grade Twelve.
The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum (adapted to local requirements) and is delivered through the medium of English - leading to the worldwide recognized
qualifications of IGCSE and AS/A2 (A levels). We also provide statutory courses in Arabic and Islamic studies according to UAE requirements.
The school aims to develop students with the knowledge, skills and understanding
to help them achieve their personal goals and be responsible citizens in an ever
changing society. To this end we offer high quality educational programmes, using
a process of continuous internal and external assessment, in a caring, tolerant
learning environment conducive to every individual having an opportunity to maximize
his/her learning potential. Our students and staff are courteous, respectful and
tolerant, and committed to the ideals of peace, integrity, justice and decency.
We firmly believe that it is possible to give young people a rigorous education
and at the same time for them to be happy. When our students leave The Oxford School,
they do so with the qualifications and qualities needed to face the demands, pressures
and exciting challenges of an increasingly complex and integrated global community;
with good friends; happy memories of sports and games played, drama, concerts, school
trips and a thousand and one other school activities and events. |

Activities |
|
| |
The Oxford School believes that a variety of extracurricular activities will play
an important part in the all round development and motivation of students. We are
committed to providing as many activities as possible. We have a wide and exciting
extra-curricular programme and a thriving School House system to encourage co-operation,
competition and team spirit. The School is proud of its active involvement and achievements
within the Community of Schools around Dubai. We regularly and successfully participate
in a diversity of inter-school competitions which includes sports events and tournaments
through to General Knowledge and Public Speaking competitions.
Educational Trips:
Educational Trips to the Dubai Museum, Sharjah Science Museum, Children's
City, Malls, Fruit and Vegetable Markets, the Zoo, Pet shops and other places help
our students gain general awareness.
Sports - Active Body, Active Mind:
A sporting chance for everyone. Our able sports teachers give training
to students in football, badminton and volley ball, track events and swimming. The
teaching of skills in a wide variety of sports is seen as an essential foundation
for the students' long term development of a healthy lifestyle. Sports at The Oxford
School aim to give healthy enjoyment for all and to develop cooperation and teamwork
as well as to develop excellence in those
students with specific talents.
Field Trips/Picnics:
Field Trips and outings to parks, play areas, stables and boat cruises provide interesting
experience to students.
Public Speaking:
Special contributions to delivering assemblies are a regular occurrence at The Oxford School. The student acquires public speaking
skills and confidence as well as gaining
knowledge by researching the topic he/she is going to talk
about. Debates, declamation, recitation and elocution are also part of a confidence-gaining
process.
Kiddies Kitchenette / Junior Cooks:
Right from the kindergarten classes, students are introduced to the art
of preparing simple dishes. Their flair for creativity is satisfied when they decorate
their sandwiches, salads, dips etc.
Workshops:
Workshops take the student beyond the classroom and give him an insight
into the subject of the workshop. Environmental workshops, multimedia workshops,
technology workshops and general behaviour workshops are all part of the learning
process and are conducted in a fun way.
Creativity:
Our students' artistic and creative energies are channeled through a series
of art competitions, clay modeling competitions and Craft competitions. These competitions
provide a platform for self expression. |
